Maruti renews focus on rural market

Maruti Suzuki plans to further strengthen its presence in the most remote areas of the country.
The company over the last seven months sold almost 10 per cent of its total cars in rural areas, said Maruti Suzuki's chief general manager (marketing) Mayank Pareek.
"Rich people in villages like the sarpanch or traders or prominent farmers are willing to buy cars but are not 'tapped' by dealers. Through a focused approach, we are pushing our Alto and Swift brands in rural areas," Pareek added.
For this, it would also increase its rural dealership from 1,500 now.
