Metropolis plans greenfield lab in Hyd

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad

Diagnostic chain Metropolis Healthcare is planning to open a greenfield laboratory in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 75 lakh.

The lab, spread across 1,800 sft area, will conduct over 100 diversified tests, including hormones, vitamins and tumour markers. The company has already started collecting samples, a press release said.

Hence, now instead of sending the samples to centre’s like Mumbai or Chennai, they will be processed in the referral labs itself, thus reducing the turnaround time.

The chain is also coming up with 15 greenfield laboratories in Tier II and Tier III cities across India, with a total investment of Rs 15 crore by the end of this fiscal year.

“We have already selected 10 locations for south and west India, and five for the north. We expect higher growth with our entry into Tier II and III cities,” said Ameera Shah, managing director and CEO of Metropolis Healthcare. The labs will be set up at Gorakhpur, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Lucknow, Allahabad, Udaipur, Agra, Bhopal, Ranchi, Belgaum, Puducherry, Kollam and Kottayam.
