NID to set up research chair

| National Institute of Design is joining hands with Autodesk Inc, a US-based software and digital solution company. |
| The company will establish a research chair and a centre of excellence in innovative design, called Design Edge at NID. |
| This will be the third research chair to be set up at NID. The previous two were John Bissell Chair for Textile and O P Jindal Stainless Chair for Research (Product Innovation). An MoU will be signed in this regard on February 1 at NID by the institute's director, Darlie Koshy and regional director of Autodesk, India, Rajiv Nair. |
| Autodesk is a $7.7 billion US-based software company, which specialises in 2D and 3D software. The company boasts of 100 per cent Fortune 100 companies and 98 per cent Fortune 500 companies, among other 7 million registered users around the world. |
| The company's four global strategic partners include Microsoft, Intel, Hewlett-Packard and IBM, apart from 2,500 third-party developers. |
