No telecasting of EuroCup sans license: HC

Hearing a petition of ESPN, the vacation bench of the Delhi High Court ordered on June 11 that Nandikotkur cable network and others were restrained from "disturbing, telecasting and broadcasting or in any manner communicating" to the subscribers the football tournament that is being telecast on ESPN.
Justice Sunil Gaur also directed local police to enforce the order and render all necessary assistance to ESPN.
The ESPN Software India Ltd had moved the court saying unauthorised connections are being taken by about 100 cable operators and they are unauthorisedly accessing the signals.
"I am satisfied that the case of ad interim injunction is made out as Euro Cup football and Asia Cup cricket are currently being telecast and the injury cause to plaintiff cannot be compensated," Justice Gaur said.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Rajput Chief Operating Officer ESPN said, "We are delighted with the verdict. The High Court has made it clear that piracy will not be tolerated".
