OCL bets on new cement brand to push sales

OCL India Ltd, the flagship associate company of Dalmia Bharat Group today launched a premium brand Konark DSP Cement- high strength cement specially designed for roof casting.
"Positioned as 'Dhalai ki Jaan or the 'Life of Dhalai', the new offering is based on consumer need specific roof casting. It is a premium product which offers high endurance concrete casting, great compressive strength and zero loss through its tamper and moisture proof packaging. People looking for higher strength and lesser space like thinner columns and walls can opt for the new product", said Indrajit Chatterji, deputy executive director and head (sales & marketing).
The new product is priced about Rs 25 higher than other cement products, whose pricing is hovering around Rs 335 for a 50 kg bag. The company is hopeful that the new premium product launched will be a key growth driver for the company. Company officials said that they were hopeful of increasing their sales volume by 25 percent through the new product in this fiscal. The company has made a turnover of about Rs 2,000 crore in the last fiscal, said Chatterji.

The new product is good for individual housing and is appropriate for buildings in coastal Odisha. It gives resilient and durability to the structures, he added.
The company will launch Konark DSP Cement in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand in May. "We have used state of the art technology and quality control measures to produce this premium quality brand," said Amandeep Gupta, joint chief executive officer, OCL.
