RIL's bonus shares to trade on bourses from tomorrow

Reliance Industries (RIL), today said the bonus shares allotted by the company last month have been listed on stock exchanges and will be traded from tomorrow.

"The bonus shares have been listed with National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and have been admitted for dealing with effect from December 7, 2009," RIL said in a statement issued here.

The Mukesh Ambani-led company had, last month, approved 1:1 issuance of bonus shares after a 12-year hiatus. The last time RIL announced a bonus issue was in October 1997.

The petrochemical giant's scrip is one of the top traded counters on the bourse and witnesses lakhs of shares changing hands every day. RIL's shares closed at Rs 1089.05 on Friday on the BSE, down by 1.13 per cent.

 

RIL, which carries the most weight on the benchmark Sensex, has gained as much as 78 per cent till November 26 when it went ex-bonus.

The bonus shares were alloted to eligible shareholders on November 28, as per their shareholdings on the record date (November 27).
