Sun TV Q2 net profit up 22% at Rs 270 crore

Revenue grew 10 per cent to Rs 625 crore during the quarter

Sun TV Network has registered a growth of 21.7 per cent in net profit at Rs 270.35 crore during the quarter ended September 30, 2016, as compared to Rs 222.07 crore net profit in the same quarter of last fiscal year.

The revenue of the company marked a growth of 10 per cent to Rs 625.49 crore during the quarter, when compared to Rs 567.55 crore total income from operations registered during the corresponding quarter of previous year.

The subscription revenue of the company has increased around 17 per cent to Rs 228.55 crore, said a company announcement.

Quoting the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), it added that its Tamil channel Sun TV, the flagship channel of the company, continue to be the number one channel on an all India basis, ahead of Colors and Star Plus. Gemini TV, its Telugu channel, is also among the top five channels in India recently, added the company.
