Tata's Trent hires CEO from UK

Almost eight months after Noel Tata stepped down as managing director of Trent, retail arm of the Tata Group, the company said it had appointed Philip Auld as chief executive officer.

Auld is a retail industry veteran from Britain, who has worked with Asda, a WalMart-run supermarket and M&S, a Netherlands-based non-food retailer (no connection with UK-based Marks & Spencer).

After Tata left Trent, a five-member core team was formed to look after the operations of the company. Tata continued as non-executive chairman.
