Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest software exporter on Tuesday inaugurated a delivery center at its Pune facility to primarily cater to the need of Japanese corporates.

"Japanese associates will work closely with the Pune center to engender a delivery-environment conducive to customer needs and resonating with the Japanese quality mindset," it said in a statement.

Besides, it has also set up a Japanese-language academy inside the centre. TCS Japan Hikari Academy will provide extensive language training and cultural seminars for staff at multiple levels to train staffs in the language.

"A customised curriculum is also being developed in collaboration with universities from the surrounding Pune," it said.

TCS said the establishment of Japan-focused centre shows its commitment to invest in the country.

"Opening of this center is a continuation of our investment and commitment to the Japan market. Our model brings out the best of our capabilities in Japan and leverages TCS' global strengths, and we are pleased to partner with our clients in Japan to reap the fruits of technology-led innovation," said N Chandrasekaran, managing director and chief executive officer of the company.

In the April-June quarter, Japan business was one of the reason for more than expected dip in TCS's revenue. Lower sales realisation in Japan and emerging economies, including Latin America and problems in its UK subsidiary hurt TCS's revenue growth by $25 million, it had said in the quarterly financial results announcement.

Part of lower realisation from Japan market was also because the company was in the process of integrating with its local partner Mitsubishi which was taking time. The merger was announced in April 2014.
