Trade Ngo To Set Up India Chapter

World leaders should use their power to help poor countries become more autonomous rather than helping Trans-National Corporations (TNCs)become more powerful. Because India is such a vocal voice in seeking equitable world trade, the country should pressure its leaders to take up a proactive positions.
Even upto five years ago, a trade movement would have campaigned against the growing power of TNCs, but today, the focus should be on pressurising political leaders to help poorer countries rather than companies, said Martin Drewery, of the Trade Justice Movement. The Movement is considering opening an India chapter.
Drewery was in the country recently, to talk to a group of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on how small organisations and individuals can make a difference to the direction of trade policies.
