Work suspended at 'Mortein' plant at Barjora

While Manaksia Ltd, makers of well-known Mortein mosquito-coil brand, put up the work suspension notice on April 20 rendering 450 workers jobless, the management of Govinda Sponge Iron halted production at their plant, one day after, official sources said today.

Besides the 450 workers of the coil unit, an estimated 350 employees of the sponge iron factory also took part in the blockade at Barjora, last afternoon.
