Yogindra Worsted to enter readymade woollens mkt

| Company to launch garment manufacturing facility. |
| Ludhiana-based Yogindra Worsted Ltd, a woollen yarn manufacturing firm, is planning to enter the ready-to-wear garment market by adding a garment manufacturing facility at the company's existing plant in Ludhiana. |
| The company is planning to come up with its own brand of woollen garments. The company will set up a garment manufacturing unit to produce 2.52 lakh garments per annum initially. The capacity will be expanded once the demand of the garments produced increases. |
| However, for the first year, the company will stick to supplying national and international woollen garment brands. The company also intends to expand its yarn manufacturing capacity with the addition of 825 MTS (3200 spindles) per annum to its existing capacity of 2695 MTS (6040 spindles). |
| Ajay Gupta, joint managing director of the company, told Business Standard, "We are setting up a ready-to-wear garment unit in our existing facility. The unit will initially produce 2.52 lakh woollen garments like sweaters and mufflers in the first year. The company will focus on building its own brand once we are stable in the market as well as become comfortable with the technical aspect of the readymade market." |
| Initially, the company will continue to cater to the needs of the bigger woollen garment brands. |
| "Most of the national and international woollen garment companies outsource their work which we deal with prefer to deal with yarn manufacturing firms which has their own dying facility and garment manufacturing facility so that they can choose the shades of yarn they like and order the garments at the same place." |
| The company supplies dyed as well as undyed yarns of Acrylic Woollens blends, 100 per cent wool, polyester and acrylic chenille yarns and fancy yarns, dyed acrylic and polyester tops. |
| "After the expansion of our yarn-making capacity our clients will also have the facility to order garments. We are best placed to launch our own brand in the market. Initially, we will target the domestic market and look at exporting ready-to-wear garments also in future," he said. |
| The company will also venture into natural yarn manufacturing. "Once we are comfortable with garments we will venture into cotton yarn also," Gupta said. |
