Zee net up 13%

Zee Telefilms has posted a 13 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 77.90 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005, compared with a net profit of Rs 69.10 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The consolidated revenues for the first quarter grew by 25 per cent at Rs 347.10 crore against Rs 278.70 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The revenues exclude the revenues of Padmalaya, in which Zee has divested its stake.

Zee reported a 17 per cent increase in its advertising revenue at Rs 131.50 crore in the first quarter compared with 112.60 crore over corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Zee's subscription revenues grew by 13 per cent at Rs 173.40 crore for the quarter against Rs 153 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company had invested Rs 14.75 crore in the first quarter for its channels like Zee Telugu, Zee Smile and Zee Sports and on marketing its DTH service-DishTV.
