'Rising oil prices a major worry for growth'

 Pointing out that the 11th Plan had set a growth target of 9%, which he said could be attained by increasing competitiveness.

"The crucial areas that need to be addressed for this are education, agricultural productivity, infrastructure development and external engagement," he said.

With an aim to improve skills of the youth, Mukherjee said government has increased threefold the central budgetary support for education.

"The plan outlay on education will go up from 7.68% of the Central gross budgetary support in the 10th Plan to over 19% in the 11th Plan," he said.
