6 New Courses At Nit Jamshedpur

National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, will offer six new courses in the post-graduation (PG) from the 2004-05 academic session.

Acting NIT principal Akhileshwar Mishra said the new courses would be instrumentation, control and power electronics under electrical engineering, software engineering under computer science, enegry engineering under applied mechanica department, geo-technical engineering and infrastructural engineering under the civil engineering department.

All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recently permitted NIT to introduce new courses after a six-member AICTE team from New Delhi visited NIT on May 24 to vet the proposal for starting new courses from the 2004-05 academic session.

AICTE reportedly asked NIT to look at M Tech courses in production engineering and management under the industrial management engineering. Applicants will be required to qualify in the graduate aptitude test for engineers (GATE) conducted by the ministry. NIT has around 50 students in four PG subjects.

 

With the six new courses, the strength of PG students would go up to over 100.
