APERC draft code on billing

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) released the draft electricity supply code here on Saturday.

The draft code, which aims at streamlining the billing system, has laid down certain regulations for the four distribution companies (Discoms) and future suppliers to follow.

According to these regulations, the licensees are required to inform, beforehand, the periodicity of billing (whether monthly or bi-monthly) and also the date of meter reading.

The licensees have to submit full details of consumers, meter readings and other charges and surcharges, if any, and arrears up to the preceding financial year to the regulator.
