Apex Court Orders Trial Of Golden Forest

The Supreme Court has ordered the trial of Golden Forest (India) Ltd for defrauding a large number of depositors, who had paid by cheques for buying land in Punjab. The high court had quashed the complaints against the company moved in by different criminal courts.

The state government appealed to the Supreme Court, which set aside the high court order and asked the trial court to proceed with the criminal cases.

The Bench headed by Chief Justice B N Kirpal stated that the high court had relied upon a set of judgments of the Supreme Court, which had laid down wrong law while dealing with quashing of criminal cases.
