As has been the case every year, the festival showcases local, national and international artistes from the fields of dance, music and theatre. From Carnatic to Western Classical, dance drama to folk festivals, from Nagaland to Poland!

BIAF was conceived and envisaged keeping in mind the need for an International Arts Festival in the country. “We aim to showcase world class performances from legendary artists to the gen-next. Over the last five years we have had artists from over 14 countries perform at our festival,” said Suma Sudhindra, Director of BIAF. Harmony through Arts has been the objective and we hope to continue to take the message across, especially in these present times, added she. The support of the people of Bengaluru is vital to keep festivals like BIAF alive. The artistes from across the globe can be experienced over the next three weekends.

Veena Murthy Vijay, Director of BIAF, says, “The power of the arts which brings harmony across the globe has inspired us to conduct Bengaluru International Arts Festival — 2012, for the fifth year. Among our many stalwarts and international artistes we are excited to host the Nagaland choir, the Pung cholam and Dhol cholam and the Ras Leela from Imphal.”
