"Use of blackerry for purpose of enforcement was initiated in January 2008. While blackberry is used for imposing spot fines, automation centres generate police notices for recorded violations. These two, which were working under different domains with different databases so far, have now been integrated", he told the press.
Hence, every time a road user is found violating rules, his past record and unpaid traffic challans become available in the blackberry.
This can lead to two consequences, one enhanced penalty for repeat offence, especially in case of drunken driving. It can even lead to suspension of driving licence as well as imprisonment, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Security) Pravin Sood said.

The second, settling all pending police notices on the spot or take further notice for settling in court for which he will have to surrender his driving licence in original or the vehicle.
This will give the much needed teeth to traffic police against repeat offenders and habitual traffic violators, he said.
In the first four months in 2008, over 500,000 people had been booked for traffic violations and Rs 8.28 crore collected from them as fine amount.
