BDA finalises 3 locations for mass housing

Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has finalized three locations in the suburban areas of the city for developing its much awaited low-cost housing projects.
The locations finalized for these mass housing projects in the city include Kalinganagar, Subudhipur and Paikraipur. A total of 800 dwelling units would be built in these locations.
These housing projects would be developed in four acres of land at Subudhipur, three acres at Kalinganagar and two acres at Paikraipur.
“We have finalized three locations- Kalinganagar, Subudhipur and Paikraipur for the mass housing projects. There are land related issues for the other two proposed locations- Chandrasekharpur and Bargarh Brit Colony and we expect to resolve these issues soon”, DK Singh, vice-chairman, BDA told Business Standard.
The architects have submitted their plans for the mass housing projects and the plan is under scrutiny by the authority. Tenders for construction work are set to be floated within a month.

Construction work on these housing projects is set to resume in early 2010 and the projects are likely to be commissioned by the end of 2011.
“BDA would place advertisements for these mass housing projects only after the commencement of construction work. The buyers would be selected through a draw of lots”, said Singh.BDA has lined up an investment of Rs 80-100 crore on developing 1,000 dwelling units which would be a mix of 1-BHK (bedroom hall kitchen), 2-BHK and 3-BHK flats.
The total built-up area of these flats would range from 700 to 1,700 sq ft and the price would vary from Rs 7 to 25 lakh per flat depending on the built-up area. While 1-BHK flat would comprise a built-up area of 700 sq ft and would be priced at Rs 7-8 lakh, a 2-BHK flat with a built-up area of 1,000-1,200 sq ft would be available in the range of Rs 12-15 lakh.
Similarly, a 3-BHK flat with a built-up area of 1,500-1,700 sq ft would be priced at Rs 20-25 lakh.
