Chief minister inaugurates Jalayagnyam projects

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, today inaugurated two medium irrigation projects in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts.
 
The two projects are the first ones to be completed under the 'Jalayagnyam' programme, which was started by the state government about one-and-a-half years back. The government had spent more than Rs 110 crore on these two projects.
 
On Sunday morning, the chief minister released water at Peddagedda project in Vizianagaram district. Under this project, 8,500 acres will be irrigated and the government has invested Rs 73.19 crore to complete the project works.
 
Later in the afternoon, Reddy inaugurated the Pedderu project in Madugula Mandal in Visakhapatnam district. Under this project, about 13,000 acres of land will get water. The government spent about Rs 38.41 crore on the project.
 
Reddy said his government would complete all the irrigation projects, which were started under Jalayagnyam, as per schedule.
