While the Congress-led UPA government tried to boost its electoral fortunes by announcing the Sixth Pay Commission award, the CPI(M)’s trade union wing, the CITU, termed the move as “totally inadequate, disappointing and discriminatory towards the lower level employees.”
“The government has failed to concede the demands of the unions to address the disparity in pay scales between lower-level employees and higher officers. The gap between the minimum and maximum pay continues to be widened,” said CITU President MK Pandhe.
