Govt not to privatise RTC, Singareni: YSR

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said reforms in public sector undertakings initiated by his government was not meant to privatise the entities like AP Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) or Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

Addressing a press confernece here on Monday, the chief minister said his government intended to improve the performance and efficiency of the government and co-operative entities to make them run on profits through restructuring process to avert the threat of closure or sell off.

"We will never privatise corporations like APSRTC and Singareni. In fact, our government has provided financial assitance to road transport corporation to improve its finanacial position," he said.
