Haryana to regularise unauthorised colonies

Haryana plans to regularise 1,000 illegal colonies in the urban areas of the state and provide all the basic amenities to these colonies.
Stating this, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Gopal Kanda said that all illegal colonies in several towns of the state for which the proposal had been received by the department would soon be regularised.
Kanda said, it has been decided to give 50 per cent area reserved for the weaker sections in the residential colonies to the Haryana Housing Board at Rs 500 per square yard. Housing Board would construct inexpensive flats on this area to allot to the people below the poverty line in the state; and sufficient funds would be released for the developing newly constituted municipalities.
Adding: “The periphery of several towns of the state would also be expanded”. Third State Finance Commission has been set up for exploring other possibilities for increasing the revenue of municipalities. A cleanliness project had been prepared for the cities and a huge amount would be spent on it. Two hydraulic platforms and over 24 fire brigade vehicles have been purchased for ensuring the safety and security of the cities.
He said, Sirsa alone has 43 such colonies which would be regularised, and Sirsa would be developed as a model city by making it tidy and pollution free.
