The Delhi High Court yesterday sought details of CBI investigation into allegations that Congress president Sitaram Kesri has allegedly amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A division bench comprising Justice Jaspal Singh and Justice Manmohan Sarin asked the CBI to submit the synopsis of the probe and the concerned file in a sealed cover to the court on August 1 and posted the matter for further hearing on August 4.

A freelance journalist has filed a revision petition seeking direction from the court to ask CBI to probe into the allegations against Kesri regarding disproportionate assets as weel as the charges that he bribed MLAs to get elected to Rajya Sabha in 1988 and 1994.

Counsel for the CBI, additional solicitor general Altaf Ahmed, submitted a CBI file to the court and vehemently contended that it would amply demonstrate the fairness with which the CBI conducted probe into the allegations against Kesri.

The high court had on March 4 disposed of Madureshs petition while observing that CBI would complete its probe into the allegations in accordance with law.

Ahmed said the file contained the probe of CBI between March 4 till date.
