BS Reporter Chennai/ Bangalore

The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) in partnership with Bangalore-based learning solutions provider Radix Learning, has launched Yogyata "" a professional certification programme aimed at enhancing the employability of fresh engineering graduates in the IT sector. Radix Learning would provide the content, technology and managed services for the initiative.

To start with, IIIT-B aims to offer the programme from its Bangalore and Hubli centres which will be subsequently extended to other cities including Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad. The four-month duration programme will be offered as a blended learning programme including learning methodologies such as face-to-face classroom lectures, web-based multi-media enabled self-learning courseware, actionable learning modules, online monitoring and collaborative learning.

The institute has announced to guarantee jobs for those candidates who pass the programme securing A or B grade.

S Sadagopan, director, IIIT-B said, "While the challenge of employability has been spoken about repeatedly over the past few years, there has not been a structured institutional initiative of the kind we are embarking on today. Yogyata has been thought through to include what IT industry truly needs and looks for in fresh talent."

Srinivasan Ramani, former director of HP Labs India, is heading the initiative from IIIT-B. The course fee is Rs 34,500, which can be paid in two installments. The institute is also working on plans to offer scholarships to needy students on the basis of their performance.

K R V Subramanian, CEO of Radix Learning, said, "One of the main innovations of this programme is the use of actionable learning modules, which allows students to practice what they learn, thereby linking learning to performance."

The admissions are open to students who have completed their bachelor's degree in engineering or who are in their third year of the engineering degree programme.
