Industrial estates in Haryana may head for change in ownership

The industries department of the state is working on transferring the ownership of the industrial estates (with assets and liabilities) from HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) to the HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Authority).
If this is implemented, the small and medium scale units scattered over the industrial estates in Haryana, which had been grappling with obsolete infrastructure for over a decade, may have better days ahead.
Talking to Business Standard, the Industries Minister of the state Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the industrial areas of the state have been poorly managed by HUDA as its main exposure is in residential projects and their maintenance.
He said that HSIIDC is more focused on industrial development and can understand the needs of the industry better.
There is some resistance from HUDA but the decision, as a policy has been taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Haryana B S Hooda, said Surjewala.
