Industry body seeks full-time IAS officer in Tier-II cities

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad

The IT and ITeS Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITsAP), a registered apex body with over 300 members representing the software industry in the state, has requested chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to appoint a dedicated and full-time IAS officer in Tier-II cities who would be responsible to grow the IT and ITeS industry in these cities.

Calling on Reddy at his residence on Sunday evening, ITsAP’s new chief V Rajanna told the chief minister this was required as Tier-II cities such as Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Kakinada could fuel the next phase of growth for the IT and ITeS sectors in the state.

ITsAP has also requested the chief minister’s intervention to have more airlines to operate from Hyderabad, which will enable more international connections from the city to Europe and North America as they are the largest markets for the sector.

Rajanna briefed Reddy about the forthcoming event — Advantage Andhra Pradesh 2012, which will be held from June 21 in Hyderabad, and formally invited him to be the chief guest.
