KPC offers surgery at Rs1000

KPC Medical College and Hospital today launched its low cost surgery programme under which all major surgery was priced at Rs 1000 and the minor ones at Rs 500.

This was bound to impact other private sector clinics which were currently levying much higer charges for surgery or as operation theatre charges.

Charges included surgeon's fees, anesthesia and OT charge but excluded the cost of medicine. The hospital did nine surgeries after the scheme was launched today.

"Our vision is to try and reach the general people with world class treatment at a lowest possible price," said Sarad Jha, country head, KPC Group.

The major surgery facility at Rs 1000 would be available till March 31, 2008, after which the group would review the situation.
