Moga municipal body passes budget 2006-07

The Moga Municipal Council today passed a Rs 21.30 crore budget for the year 2006-07, Rs 3 crore more than last year's allocation.
 
"Rs 9.80 crore will come from tolls whereas Rs 2.40 crore will be from excise duty on electric goods," council President Joginder Pal Jain told reporters here after the presentation of budget.
 
"Rs 1.50 crore will come from house tax, Rs two crore from sale of property and from sanctioning of building plan Rs 1.22 crore will be collected," Jain said.
 
He said the Punjab local bodies directorate has also sanctioned Rs 2.40 crore out of municipal funds for carrying out development works in the town.
 
"The council has also decided to build its new administrative block at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore for which a sum of Rs 30 lakh has been earmarked in the current budget," he said.
 
The council would also spend Rs 4 crore on construction and repair of new roads, better sewage disposal and water supply, street lighting and augmentation of sewerage, he added.
 
The municipal body has also decided to spend Rs 20 lakh for cattle field whereas Rs 25 lakh would be spent on development of parks in the township, Jain said.
