Petrol pump owners to stop sale of branded fuel

The Federation of All India Petroleum Traders Association President Ashok Badhwar has said that state-run firms were asking petrol pump owners to sell at least 50 per cent of the branded fuel.
"We cannot pressurise customers to buy branded fuel which is Rs 3-5 per litre costlier than the regular fuel," he told reporters after meeting Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora.
IOC, BPCL and HPCL were supplying 300 kilo litres of branded and same quantity of regular fuel. And towards the end of the month petrol pumps run out of normal fuel because of the forced quota system.

He said Deora has assured the dealers that he would call the meeting of the concerned companies by next week and the solution to the problem would be found in 2-3 weeks time.
"If the government fails to end this quota system we would be forced to decide on not selling the branded fuel completely," he said.
