Quota:Maya for minorities, upper caste

While supporting the Supreme Court order of upholding quota for the other backward classes (OBC) in higher educational institutions, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today proposed that similar provision be made for the economically backward among the upper caste and religious minorities.

Mayawati said she would soon write about her demand to the Prime Minister. Mayawati had surprised everyone with her strategy of what was once an unthinkable caste alliance between Dalits and Brahmins to register a decisive electoral victory for her Bahujan samaj party in the state. She is working on the same formula across the country
