State govt to tie up with Chhatisgarh on long term power sharing

Punjab government would sign a mutual cooperation agreement especially in the field of power generation and agro-based industry to get the benefits of successful experience of each  other.    

"I have a dialogue with Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh, who has shown keen interest with mutual cooperation with Punjab and with the consent of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, both the states will soon an agreement in this regard, Manoranjan Kalia, Cabinet Minister, Punjab said adding that due to the agreement, Punjab would enter into a long term pact on power with Chhatisgarh, which has emerged as power surplus agreement.     

 

Punjab could always enter into a long term agreement for continuous purchase of power from Chhatisgarh and the latter could be benefited from the rich experience of Punjab in the field of agriculture, Kalia added.     

Vendanta Group, which has recently inaugurated its power plant with the capacity of 2000 MW, has already set up such type of mega plant in Chhatisgarh and the state has already entered into a mutual cooperation agreement with Madhya Pradesh, which has proved a big success, minister  claimed.     

The Chhatisgarh has also emerged as one of the largest paddy growing state and Punjab could also get benefit out of its experience,  especially in the field of paddy's cultivation.      
Kalia, who has recently returned from the National Executive Committ's meeting of BJP at Bangalore and met Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh, said that he has discussed with proposed agreement with the later in a threadbare manner.
