104 pc rise in ITES exports saves the day

Though retained its fourth rank among the software technology parks in the country, Software Technology Parks of India - Hyderabad (STPH) has posted less than projected numbers for the fiscal 2002-03 with a 26 per cent rise in total exports at Rs 3,668 crore as against Rs 2,855 crore exports in the previous fiscal.

The park has projected 40 per cent growth for the last fiscal and targeted to cross Rs 4,000 crore mark and fell short by Rs 332 crore.

The growth in exports last year was primarily because of the 104 per cent increase in the IT-enabled services exports at Rs 1,411 crore, while IT exports grew marginally by four per cent to Rs 2,257 crore from Rs 2,165 crore.

 

Announcing the growth numbers here, STPC director M Vijay Kumar said the state could retain its fourth position among STPIs in the country. Bangalore STPI retained its numero uno position with Rs 13,754 crore exports. Noida stood second with Rs 7,450 crore and Chennai came at third position with Rs 6,315 crore exports.

Satyam Computer Services stands top among the exporters from the state with Rs 462 crore (Rs 363 crore), while Wipro occupied the second slot with Rs 449 crore (Rs 339 cr), GE Capital International Services stood at third position with Rs 342 crore (Rs 294 crore) exports. Infosys Technologies retained its fourth rank with Rs 232 crore (Rs 126 crore) worth exports.
