A special tribunal headed by a Delhi High Court judge today lifted the ban on the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
In reaction, the Union Home Ministry said it would challenge the order. “The ministry will examine the order of the specially-designated tribunal in detail and take remedial action on a priority basis,” said a ministry spokesman.
Blaming the “incompetence” of the government for the revocation of the ban, the BJP said it reflected the “real face” of the UPA.
