Villages to have eight degree colleges: VB Singh

The Himachal Pradesh government would open eight new degree colleges in rural areas on need basis, Chief Minister VB Singh said today.
 
He said the government was giving more attention to bring about a qualitative improvement in educational activities and associating private entrepreneurs to make the state a centre of excellence for learning where all types of educational facilities would be available.
 
Addressing a public meeting at Khabal in Chohara block in Rohru area of Shimla district, the chief minister said that Himachal Pradesh had been blessed with immense natural beauty and had the potential to cater to all types of tourists.
 
He further said the state was globally recognised as a prominent tourist destination and it has the potential for eco-tourism, adventure, water sports and religious tourism.
 
He added that the state had adopted the slogan of "Himachal for all reasons and all seasons" as tourism activities were taking place round the year.
 
"The grandeur of Kalka-Pattan in backward Chohara block of Rohru sub division of Shimla district would be explored for adventure tourism," he said.
