Ananth Kumar confident of 272-plus seats

The BJP National general secretary added that the party was going to the people with three visions - price reduction of essential items, job creation and border security

BS Reporter Mysore
BJP National General Secretary Ananth Kumar today was very confident that his party would win over 272 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. He added that the party was going to the people with three visions - price reduction of essential items, job creation and border security.

It would also strive to get back the black money hoarded abroad, asking countries like Switzerland to return the money. BJP would make systematic changes to curb black money operation within the country by undertaking tax and election reforms.

Prices of essential articles would be brought down to the level that prevailed during the Vajpayee government. The Vajpayee government had created 67 million jobs as against 27 million created during the 10-year period of Manmohan Singh, he said and added that 10 million job would be created every year.

On the border security, Ananth Kumar said 35 million people from Bangladesh had migrated into India. China had gained access to 13 kms of Indian territory, while Pakistan had committed breach of line of actual control a record 310 times during the present Congress Government period.

The BJP leader also claimed that a new polarisation was taking place under Modi's leadership, whose wave he said was sweeping the country, particularly in Hindi-belt and Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in South, and it would give the party a clear mandate. "People have determined to oust the Congress and bring Modi to power. The scenario is we will bag more than 286 seats," he said claiming that people would reject Aap Aadmi party (AAP) too.

"The countdown of Congress has begun, not only in the Centre but also in Karnataka. The writing is on the wall.. Congress is going to get less than 100 seats. It will be demolished. Congressmen are demoralised. Many of their leaders are running away from the election battle ground," Anantha Kumar charged.

Attacking the Prime Minister, he alleged Manmohan Singh was functioning like a "stop-gap Prime Minister".as a "night watchman."

"People have determined for a system change to overcome economic, security and administrative mess created by the Congress. For this, they know there is need for a stable Government," he said adding Modi had addressed 290 rallies across the country so far, creating a world record. Modi would address rallies in Kasargod, Koppal, Bagalkot, Mysore and Bangalore in Karnataka on April 8.

The Siddaramaiah Government would definitely collapse after the elections, he predicted. BJP would complain to the Election Commission against him for accusing Modi on Gujarat riots although Surpeme Court had given him a clean chit. "Siddaramaiah has lost his balance. His attack on Modi amounts to contempt of court."

The BJP leader expressed confidence of his victory in Bangalore against Congress candidate Nandan Nilekani and claimed his achievements like bringing Metro, airport etc. during 18 years as MP would stand in good stead.

BJP got a shot in the arm when Nanjangud's influential leader M Mahadev joined the party today.

Meanwhile, the Congress too bolstered its strength with two prominent BJP leaders of Chamarajanagar, K R Mallikarjunappa, ex-MLC, and S Balaraj, ex-MLA, joining the party.
