Bank Prudential Norms To Be Made Tougher

BUSINESS STANDARD

Finance minister Yashwant Sinha today hinted at tougher prudential norms for Indian banks.

Speaking at the inauguration of BancIT 2001 here, Sinha said stronger prudential norms and recapitalisation are a must for the banks. This is significant since a few public sector banks need immediate recapitalisation to achieve the stipulated capital adequacy ratio (CAR).
