Two Chennai-based public sector banks are expected to waive over Rs 2,000 crore farm loan under the Government of India's loan waiver scheme for farmers, according to senior officials of the banks.

		</script> </DIV><p class='TableClas'>Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had recently revised the farm loan waiver scheme to Rs 71,680 crore from the earlier proposal of Rs 60,416 crore. An estimated 43 million farmers across the country are expected to benefit from this scheme of which 36 million would be small and marginal farmers with land holdings of less than 5 acres each.
