Majority Of Lics Policies Are Issued In Small Towns, Suburbs

Small towns and suburbs have come to dominate the profile of policies issued by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) on an all-India basis in this fiscal till end-February. Agents at Contai in Midnapore wrote the largest number of new policies at 38,678. Their counterparts at Hazaribag wrote policies with largest sum assured at Rs 227 crore.

The development officer who collected the largest number of policies was from Tamluk in Howrah at 9,216 policies, followed by Hazaribagh in Jharkhand (8,661 policies), and Krishnan-agar (8,298) and Bagnan (7,300) in West Bengal.
