PNB may reduce deposit rates

State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) may reduce deposit rates shortly. The bank now pays a maximum 8.75% interest on deposits.

"The decision may come in another 4-5 days," chairman K C Chakrabarty said.

As PNB's lending rates are lower than other banks, there is no plan to reduce it, he added.
