Re moves up to 43.59/$, gilts decline

The spot rupee firmed up to 43.59 per dollar as against the last close of 43.63 per dollar on strong inflows and lack of buying by PSU banks.

Sentiment was bearish in the government securities market today. While prices of long-term papers  fell by 20-25 paise, medium and short-term securities witnessed a fall of  10-15 paise. 

 The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond closed at a higher yield of 6.58%.

Reverse repo bids totalled Rs 33,700 crore.
