State Bank of Mysore (SBM) has donated a food distribution vehicle to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a Bangalore-based non-for-profit organization that provides free meals to over one million students everyday.
O P Bhatt, chairman of State Bank Group handed over the key of the customised vehicle which will be used to ferry food from Akshaya Patra kitches’ to schools located in the far-flung areas in the state.
“I am sure that this noble gesture will encourage other corporates to support us. Every new supporter will enable us to bring smiles to the faces of thousands of children in the country,” Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman, the Akshaya Patra Foundation said.
The Foundation aims to provide free noon meal to five million children by 2020.
