Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and President General Council, NCDC presided over the 76th General Council meeting of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) here today. He commended NCDC for its excellent performance for the year ended 2013-14. NCDC recorded the highest ever sanction of Rs. 7758 crore and disbursement of Rs. 5271 crore recording an increase of 17% higher achievements in relation to the targets for the year 2013-14. NCDC posted an all time high pre-tax profit at Rs. 255 crore. Net NPA of the Corporation was maintained at Zero and recovery rate was 99.88%. The Minister for Agriculture expressed his satisfaction at the performance of NCDC and felt that NCDC will achieve greater heights and higher standards in the years to come.
The Minister congratulated NCDC on emerging as ISO: 9001:2008 certified organization and expressed optimism that this would benefit NCDC in increasing its business through better client orientation, timely delivery of services and continual improvements in the management practices.
In line with the national priorities the Minister for Agriculture emphasized the need to reduce the gap from lab to land, to increase productivity, to use new technology on a continuous basis in Agriculture and to increase exports of agriculture commodities leading to rapid economic growth. He further added that cooperatives should play a major role in increasing growth rate of agriculture as happened in Madhya Pradesh, which recorded a growth rate of 24.75%. He also added that NCDC should take steps in getting remunerative prices to farmers for agricultural products. Making a special mention of Prime Ministers new initiative Swachh Bharat Mission, Minister advised NCDC to take all possible steps to make it a big success by ensuring toilet facilities for farmers at cooperatives meetings places.
