Former Tottenham striker Gareth Bale has signed a 300,000 pounds-a-week deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid, which makes him the most expensive footballer in the world.
According to the Mirror, Madrid agreed to the wallet-busting 86.3 million pounds transfer fee, which sees the 24-year-old ace wave goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Bale still has a way to go to catch Lionel Messi who, at 26, is the world's best-paid footballer pocketing 27.4 million pounds last year from wages, bonuses, sponsorships and endorsements, the report said.
Former Southampton star Bale will be paraded at Real's 85,000-seater stadium, the Bernabeu, around noon tomorrow, before the transfer window slams shut, the report added.
The striker said in a statement on the Spurs website that he has had six happy years at the club but now it was time to say goodbye.
