Arabica sells at uneven price

Arabica Plantation A coffees were at irregular price levels at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction on Thursday.

According to the auctioneer, Carritt Moran and Company, Arabica Cherry grades attracted demand at last week's level and Robusta Cherry grades ruled firm to dearer due to good domestic support.

At the auction, of the 348 tonnes offered for sale, 67 tonnes were sold. Of the quantity offered, Arabica comprised 226 tonnes and Robusta 122 tonnes.

Following are the prices quoted for grades in 50kg bags.

Arabica varieties: Arabica Plantation A Rs 5,466 (quantity sold in kg - 16,119 kg), Arabica Plantation B Rs 4,595 (5,785 kg), Arabica Plantation C Rs 4,450 (113 kg), Arabica Plantation BBB Rs 3,633 (649 kg). Arabica Cherry PB Rs 4,475 (17,359 kg), Arabica Cherry C Rs 3,675 (5,000 kg), and Arabica Cherry BBB Rs 3,498 (1,475 kg).

Robusta varieties: Robusta Parchment A Rs 4,850 (1,703 kg), Robusta Parchment BBB Rs 3613 (656 kg). Robusta Cherry PB Rs 3,857 (5,615 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 4,055 (2,039 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 3,979 (4,931 kg), Robusta Cherry C Rs 3,777 (3,707 kg), Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 3,640 (2,574 kg).
