Gold prices declined by 1.02 per cent in futures trading today on fresh selling by traders in line with softening trend in the international markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for the most active June contract moved down by 1.02 per cent to Rs 15,329 per 10 gram. The contract recorded a business volume of 389 lots.

A similar weakening trend was extended to April gold, which shed 0.98 per cent to Rs 15,332 with trading of 6,253 lots.

Market experts said fresh selling by traders and report of a weakening trend in the global market mainly led to fall in gold prices.

Meanwhile, gold on New York Mercantile Exchange traded low at $959.20 an ounce, after touching $1,000 on February 20.
