Govt removes export restrictions on dollar chana

BS Reporter New Delhi
The government has decided to free the export of kabuli chana from any quantitative restrictions. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

The regional offices concerned of DGFT have been intimated about the decision.

Earlier, the department of commerce has lifted the ban on the export of dollar chana last month. A complete ban on export of pulses was imposed in June last year to keep the spiralling prices under control.

A number of representations were received by the department of commerce, stating that prices of dollar chana, which is exported in its primary form, have plummeted due to the ban. The export ban led to prices of the chana variety falling to Rs 2,000 a quintal against the previous year's Rs 4,500.
