Negative start due to weak global cues.

The markets opened in negative territory owing to weak cues from the global markets.

The US markets ended significantly lower following which the Asian markets have started the day on a weak note.

The Sensex is now down 53 points at 17,421. The Nifty is down 16 points at 5,206.
