Medium sugar moves up on better offtake

Medium sugar prices moved up slightly at the Vashi wholesale market here today on better offtake from retail consumers.

On the other hand, small sugar variety showed a mixed pattern of trading owing to alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Medium sugar (M-30) edged up by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 2,786/2,951 from last Friday's close of Rs 2,781/2,951.

Small sugar (S-30), however were quoted at Rs 2,741/2,782 per quintal, as compared to Rs 2,716/2,855 previously. 

The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets:    

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,786/2,951 (Rs 2,781/2,951)
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,741/2,782 (Rs 2,716/2,855)
